  Emotions don't change the facts. We all know the cliché—America, the land of "unlimited opportunities" and the original "gold rush. And sure, facts are facts: until about a decade ago, the United States was the industrial heart of the planet, the birthplace of the world's most aggressive private companies, and the place where everyone has a relative living the dream.
